App Review: Night Recorder ($2.99) – Records Voices, Noises, Words and Even Ideas During Night!

Night RecorderDo you want to know what’s going on when you are sleeping? Whether you snore or have any sleeping disorders like talking, laughing or grinding teeth while sleeping? There is an app for that. It’s the Night Recorder from iPaguri available for $2.99 in App Store.

The interface just looks like a classic reel tape recorder and the reels will rotate when it’s recording and also a red light glows. Though the controls are not much visible for a casual glance, it’s not a big deal as you get accustomed to that after few times use. This is the first audio recording app which has a microphone’s sensitivity level based recording that I have seen so far, yes I do try different recording apps for my blogging. There is a sensitivity level dial on the left bottom corner of the app and you can simply set the sensitivity level above which it will record any sound.

The recording quality is very good and crystal clear. You have two recording options: More files, creates a new file for each recording session with time and duration; Unique files, creates only one file and records continuously on a single file until you stop the application. In standby mode also you can use this app to record voices when you go to sleep. And in the morning, you can listen to the recorded files, multi files if it’s more files mode or a single file if it’s Unique files mode. These files can be copied into your Mac/PC through browser via WiFi for further analysis. Recording with this app can be started by manually switching ON or set it in Speed Mode; automatically recording will start when the app is started. That’s an easy way to switch on this app when you are about to fall asleep.

Night Recorder app’s description mostly focuses on nighttime recording. When I received a request to review this app, I wasn’t quite sure how it’s going to be of any use for me as I am pretty sure I don’t have any sleeping disorders even snoring. Anyway I started testing it daily night before I went to sleep. While falling asleep, I thought I have to record the ideas that pop up in my mind when I didn’t want to get a pen and paper to write it down or fumble on another audio recorder app in my iPhone to record. One idea was to use this app for recording articles for my blog.

Yesterday, I used this app to record this review. In a unique files mode, I just talked on how to write and what to write. Initially I tried different audio recording apps for some writing but never satisfied of anything, as they record the silence in between my talk while I was searching for words. It wasted the device memory and I have to spend more time listening the silence. That was frustrating. I had waited for sometime to get such an app that helps me recording my thoughts and helps me writing down those thoughts continuously and quickly.

Finally, I found that app; it’s the Night Recorder. I am thankful for the iPaguri team to come up with this. Though app was developed mainly for recording what’s going on in the night when you are sleeping and to find out who snores or whether you have any sleep disorders (I found few of those disorders’ medical terms from the description. Glad that I learnt few new words, another reason to thank the developers), I found some ways to make use of this app for my daily routine of blogging.

A few more features that I wish to have in the future updates.

- Ability to play multi files continuously with a highlight on the playing files. So that, I can have the time and I can save time without clicking the next file.

- Ability to rename the file so that I can specify the file with something like this, “new Idea 5th Dec “, “Just A Thought 4th Dec” or “Night Recorder App Review” and delete the remaining files that I don’t need

- Ability to email the recorded file from the app

Give this app a try and you may find your own ways to use it daily.
