AppleInsider reported that most probably iPhone would come to T-Mobile rather than Verizon. It’s based on a note released to investors this week by Doug Reid of Thomas Weisel Partners. Doug Reid and his firm believes that T-Mobile, and not Verizon, will be the beneficiary when Apple’s exclusive agreement with AT&T expires next year. AT&T has likely realized this, he said, and has changed its advertising focus accordingly to be less focused on the iPhone.

“AT&T advertising in the United States has in recent weeks clearly shifted away from iPhone as the carrier likely readies itself to lose exclusivity in the United States (to T-Mobile and not to VZ, we believe) while VZ ads promoting Droid and other anti-iPhone devices appear to have intensified markedly,” Reid said.

Another compelling reason for this prediction is that the iPhone hardware change required for T-Mobile’s GSM network compatibility is relatively minor compared to what would be necessary to make the iPhone compatible with Verizon’s CDMA network — a technology that, unlike the GSM network of AT&T and T-Mobile, is not widely used abroad.

May be, we will have wait and see whether Apple would implement UK’s multi carrier model in US too or not. If, would it go to Verizon, which mocks iPhone’s “there is an app for that” ad with it’s own “there is a map for that” ad and also backs up Apple iPhone OS’s new competitor Google’s Android OS? Or would it go to T-Mobile, which has comparatively very less subscriber than Verizon?

Lets cross our fingers and let Apple do it’s own math.

Finally, Apple is going to start selling iPhone in South Korea very soon. As reported by Reuters today, local regulator cleared the final hurdle for sales of the blockbuster phone in a market home to 47 million mobile phone users.

“Korea Communications Commission said in a statement on Wednesday it would grant Apple’s South Korean unit a license that allows collecting information on locations and provide services such as map, phone locating and related marketing.“

Apple is in discussion with KT Corp, the country’s No. 2 mobile carrier, to introduce iPhone. It reported that sales would start soon, probably end of this month, though the date is not confirmed yet.

iPhone launch in S. Korea would be face-off with the world’s second and third-biggest mobile phone makers, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, in their home turf.
