As reported in TechCrunch, a new app Square which is a hardware/software combination for mobile devices (launching first for the iPhone/iPod touch) that allows vendors to easily accept and process credit card payments. Square’s website, the Twitter founder Jack Dorsey’s new startup, is launched and its product is in private beta testing with limited launching partners.

The idea – let people quickly and easily accept physical credit card payments from their mobile phone. A small device attaches to the phone via the headset/microphone jack. The device gets the power it needs to send data to the phone from the swipe of the card, and sends the information over the microphone connection. Based on the shots below, the device is compatible with both the iPhone and Android (or at least the recently released Droid).

Think paypal, but anyone can now accept physical credit card payments, too. With no contracts or monthly fees. People are sent receipts by text and email.

Hold your breath because here comes TradeSpell with a high price tag of $99.99 from Andrea Maldini. There are very few apps successful with high price, mostly GPS navigation apps. I wonder how many would buy this app for this price.

App description claims “TradeSpell is a complete trend following trading system for stocks. It helps eliminate the emotional part of trading and investing, while increasing the confidence in your trading.”  We will have to wait and see the actual users’ review and how it’s worth for the money after they bought and use it.

TradeSpell features buy/sell signals that give you an idea for your next trades, anyway, you can either accept or dismiss those signals. It can let you manage a stocks watch list and includes automatic position sizing, money and risk management too. You can adjust prices and sizes of positions and also you can define the amount you intend to use for trading.

It seems, you can simulate your trading before you actually jump into the real time trading. The quality and accuracy of the simulation mode is yet to be confirmed.
