Facebook today released an update for it’s iPhone and iPod touch native application with push notification and sync Facebook friends with address book. These two significant features make the app even cooler with the last update’s cool new features.

Now you can receive push notification for below events. This can be configured in the iPhone’s settings.

• Comments

Also, you can set it to reload the Facebook when you shake it and to vibrate while chatting.

Another beautiful feature in this update is synching Facebook friends with your address book in iPhone. When you enable this sync, your phone contacts details will be sent to Facebook and friends’ names, photos and other info from Facebook will be added to the iPhone’s contacts list. You can also set this sync to replace the photos in your contacts by the Facebook friends’ photos.

Because of this synching feature, iPhone somewhat gets the Palm Pre’s much acclaimed feature to link local contacts with social networking sites’ contacts.

Yahoo! released today an update of its Messenger app (version 1.3) with few most requested features. Now you can set the display image either from iPhone photo album or by taking a new photo. Also, Yahoo! Messenger supports video files sharing with your contact from the app itself, along with office docs and PDF files. It goes global now by supporting new languages: German, French, and Italian & Spanish

A handful of apps in App Store successfully integrated the augmented reality in it’s own core functionality, like Yelp, which originally helps user to search for places to eat, drink, shop, relax and play locally. When a tweet is selected, a blue arrow (compass) is displayed to show the direction and the distance to the location from where the tweet was posted. The distance is updated in real time as you walk in the streets.

- In Locate my Friends mode, you can list all of your best friends and you can track geographic movements of your friends, you can now see where are located your nearby friends via Augmented Reality

- When you launch Twitter 360, a small bird will localize your exact position and update the “location” field data on your Twitter account with the coordinates, only if you want

- The application is fully compatible with Google Map. It is possible to locate your nearest Twitter friends from your position on Google Map within the application

- Switch off the geolocalization option in the setting to be in “invisible” mode. Your friends won’t be able to see where you are anymore. Your tweets won’t be geotagged

If you expect to use Twitter 360 as your fully featured client for tweeting, nope it’s not for you, so go and shop another app. But if you would like to experience a different approach in tweeting, you have to grab this one for sure.

The Augmented Reality functionality is only available to iPhone 3GS users. This application does not work on other iPhone / iPod Touch models for the moment.

With this app, you can tweet, read your friends feed, replies and direct messages and also you see whom else you are following. Everything is ok. But, you can search people and follow them. You will have to go back to your desktop or some other well featured app to add new follow list. If that’s added with this app, this would be a must have app, if you are on the go most of the time. Lets hope future update will have still more features.
